Ingredients
- 3 1/2 tsp Salt
- 3 tsp Instant Yeast
- 4 Tbsp Sugar
- 6 cups Bread Flour
- 500 g Water
- 6 Tbsp Unsalted Butter
Directions
- Combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add the salt, 4 tablespoons of softened butter, and bread flour. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide into 6 equal pieces for long buns or 12 pieces for traditional breadsticks. Shape each piece into a long roll.
- Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and brush generously over the hot breadsticks. Sprinkle lightly with salt.
