Olive Garden Breadsticks

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 3 tsp Instant Yeast
  • 4 Tbsp Sugar
  • 6 cups Bread Flour
  • 500 g Water
  • 6 Tbsp Unsalted Butter

Directions

  1. Combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add the salt, 4 tablespoons of softened butter, and bread flour. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide into 6 equal pieces for long buns or 12 pieces for traditional breadsticks. Shape each piece into a long roll.
  6. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and brush generously over the hot breadsticks. Sprinkle lightly with salt.
